holding on to summer
we have spent the last few weekends in the woods, with friends and alone...hiking, exploring, and swimming. eventhough we officially have one more week of summer, this time in the woods has been the perfect way to transition into a new season. tiny signs of fall (red leaves and wildflowers) are juxtaposed with summer color (verdant ferns and fungi) and are endlessly inspiring.

foggy woods
Spring is getting close around here, but last week in the woods, it was foggy and misty...everything was quiet & muted...

dark landscapes
on a warm grey afternoon, I explored the nearby community garden. the light made the landscape look like a painting by courbet, dark and deep.

foggy country drive
a few weeks ago, i went on a little roadtrip, to the south. setting out in early morning meant that i was passing through the fog for most of my drive, and it was so pretty. i stopped a few times to take photographs, and then, of course, i had to stop by one of our favorite houses, the mason house, too, because it was right on the way...then i crossed a lake twice and got the almost all white photos below...
