the best bbq
sometimes i drive all the way past madison to the intersection of 1-20 and highway 83. there is nothing there but an old gas station. there is an add-on on the side that sells the best bbq. it has no name. i asked the guy's name ( robert ) and told him his ribs are the best. all he said was ' i jes cook 'em slow.' there's nowhere to eat the ribs. not even a shade tree, so i had to sit in my air conditioned car and wolf them down. so tender you barely have to chew..mmm-mmm...

the southern c
a few weeks ago, we all drove to charleston for the weekend to attend the tail end of the southern c summit. put on by some of our athens friends, the summit moves around the south a few times a year and always brings neat people together...this year, they asked us to decorate their tables for their brunch at the le creuset headquarters just across the river from downtown charleston. we potted up some veggie seedlings and rebecca did line drawings around them in india ink. plus, epting events was there making their famous, and delicious, pralines...! we also set up a little paper flower-making stand, where folks could make their own corsage out of paper...some folks took it even further, making crowns of flowers! it was fun watching everyone have fun with their creations- they were all so different!

junky junk
i was driving around north georgia and saw this amazing place. turns out a man named dell owns it and he's a go-to harmonica player for every big star you've ever heard of! also has a large coca cola collection inside. so if you're on highway 53 near 400, go check it out. of course, i mainly liked the 'junk'. love signs made out of found scrap metal!
