leaf shapes
i always say that i get my inspiration from nature, and i'm realizing now that leaves are a big part of that! i am obsessed and fascinated with leaf shapes and leaf colors and leaf shadows…this has been such a long fall that there are still pretty leaves to collect and admire. even golden gingkoes are still showing their beauty in december, which is unheard of. so anyway, i decided to document some leaf beauty, so here it is -

colors of fall
we have had a funny fall. the weather has been warm, weather has been ultra dry, our trees and plants don't know what is going on. last week a friend told me she had iris' blooming! at any rate, i feel like the fall leaves have stuck around longer than usual. i surely don't mind that!
this past weekend we went on an annual hike to take in all of the fall beauty. we spent the weekend in charlotte, nc and went hiking at a local park. the trees were exploding with colors that i had never seen before, it was breathtaking.
if you haven't hiked around yet......don't wait! those fall leaves will be dropping soon!

if you're looking for the antidote to feeling hurried, stressed out, or anxious, the answer is nature. spend an hour or two at your nearest nature park, woods, or botanical garden. the japanese have a word that translates into 'forrest bathing', and studies have shown it reduces stress and calms your nerves and helps depression, too. pack a snack, your water, a sweater, and get lost in the woods! leave your phone in the car. unplug. breathe in, and walk. . . .

ginkgo
ginkgo trees are some of the most beautiful colors of autumn. their leaves turn a wonderful bright yellow, then drop to the ground to take another form of beauty in whatever pattern they may land.
