collecting eggs
We just moved to a friend's farm. We have been enjoying the country sounds and activity! In the mornings our favorite thing is to head out to the coop and tend to the chickens.

wood-fired beads
I made some beads out of clay. When they were dry, I sprayed them with copper spray paint, and packed them into an old coffee can with some hay and small pieces of pine wood. I laid it in the bottom of a backyard fire and burned it a few hours. In the morning, you get to see the interesting results. Next time i will fire with horse manure, as that is supposed to make the clay more black.

GEORGIA PEACHES
This time of year, you may be treated to a sea of pink as you head down the highway. Peach trees are in bloom. The pasture grass under them is fresh spring green and the sky is blue. If you're really lucky, you'll pass by them when a rain is coming, and soft dark grey skies light up the ribbon of pink blossoms and bright grass…
Anytime, it is a sight.

an old farmhouse
Driving through the country the other day I saw this sweet old farmhouse. What caught my eye was the irises in full bloom that were still giving this old house life.

violet posey
in my 20's i spent a stretch of time in england...i remember flower-sellers with little violet posies on the street corners in the spring. they are so tiny, but so sweet. in our garden, the violets are popping up and they make the perfect bouquet for a friend.

Pineapple upside down cake
We had a potluck to go to the other night and I made an up-side down cake. This easy to make cake can be made with just about any fruit and is always a crowd pleaser. It was a perfect dessert for a spring dinner in the garden.
I like to serve it up with a little bit of whipped cream or ice cream.

overgrown
Sometimes you'll pass by an old house that is all but covered in vines and overgrown with trees and shrubs, usually blackberries and honeysuckle. If you can get past the growth, you can take a peek in. Eventually, the whole thing will just fall down and disappear.
