waiting for spring
this is one of the latest springs i can remember. finally, some daffodils are opening up, and a couple of japanese magnolias here and there, but usually by now the trees are showing color and lots more forsythia and shrubs are blooming. i went to the bot garden to look for spring. luckily they had a lot of hellebores, but their flowers always aim down! i decided to get a bug's eye shot with my camera. bug's are getting a much better view than me, it turns out.

Read Moresnowy day in the country
the "historic" ice storm didn't turn out to be so historic, but it did leave behind some snow. i sheltered at some friends' warm house, and got to walk in their woods the next morning before it all started to melt. i found this mysterious snow pond in the woods that was all japanesy on closer inspection.

i went to edisto island in december- never had seen the marsh in it's winter colors. the day i visited, there was a heavy mist blowing across the marsh, adding to the somber and subtle beauty. enjoy!

down in thomas county, we ran across this little church. the door was open, so we peeked inside. there even was a little outhouse- it was a little caved in, but looked charming, still.
