TREEHOUSE Atlanta!
In addition to helping with the beauty everyday, I also own and run a small kids shop and creative space in Athens. It's called TREEHOUSE kid and craft and it's been chugging along since 2010.
This past year my sister, Kim, has been working for me and we came up with the idea of opening up a "sister shop" in Atlanta. After many months of hard work, late nights, and sore bodies, we open our doors today.
Last night as we closed the doors, ignoring many details that can be completed over the next several months, my heart filled with so much joy and pride. i am so excited to meet our new community!
Here are a few images throughout the past couple weeks of putting this new shop together!
we will be throwing an opening party today from 5-7, if you are in the atlanta area, please join us!

old community building
it's so much fun to wind around the hills and hollers of old tobacco country. the steep green hills going up to the sky, and the old barns, many blackened by the application of used motor oil (to preserve the wood back in the day). this distinctive white building stood on a hill at a crossroads. it was sheltered by an enormous old oak tree. a man came by and told us it was an old community building that had served as a courthouse and a schoolhouse, and now was just used to store old christmas decorations.

by the river
south carolina is in our thoughts with all the recent rains. we've had nothing near that, but it has been raining for days. the winds and weather have been most peculiar this weekend. i ventured out to the botanical garden during a late break in the weather, to walk along the rising red river. the mind blowing beauty i saw there and was alone with felt like church. i had to stop when i saw the river rising over the bank a few feet ahead! i hurried back along the shore to higher ground, blessed by beauty.

smoke signals
{a few weeks ago, rebecca explored the area near marshall, nc...this post is a continuation of her visit...}
after a wonderful day of shack hunting and exploring old places, we wound up at 'smoke signals', a wood fired bakery in a green hollow. there was a pop-up wood fired pizza cooking. people were notified via instagram. there were three pizza's to choose from. we ordered and paid and took our seat on a blanket on the grassy lawn with our bottle of wine. soon our pizza was brought to us in a cardboard box, and we devoured the delicious results. afterwards, we threw our boxes in the little fire that was going. what a groovy scene!

beauty in chaos
this is my favorite time of year, melancholy and joyful beauty all mixed together. i adore the end of the garden and the wild chaos of death and rebirth. get out and enjoy before the first frost. gray days are best.

dog fennel
i've always loved this weed. when i was little i would use it for 'parsley' on my muddies. i loved to roll it between my fingers and smell the pungent smell. it is the bane of farmers, and a sign of poor pasture, but i love to see it still. i found a big patch of it and marveled at the beauty.

the idea shack
this is an oldie but goodie photoshoot we did in the 'idea shack', a wonderful, mystical place i used to own. i loved it so much. full of solitude and mystery. we had so much fun arranging and shooting there!

autumn rain
the beginning of fall has been very rainy and grey here in athens. i noticed these beautiful beads of water on the leaves and knew I had to brave my camera through the rain.
