for years, r.wood studio has had a big company garden. it is a great place to break for lunch, get some exercise, cut some fresh flowers, and of course eat some fresh and organic food. a friend sent me over
article from the NY times about company gardens. hopefully this will become a growing trend!
we've just finished getting all the seeds in the ground, and things have sprouted up. too many vegetables to list. the iris are blooming, the roses are budding, and the dahlias are pushing up and out. i'm so anxious to see how it all looks in a month or so. hopefully, it'll be a surprising paradise of beauty!
the other day, we packed a little picnic and set out on an adventure. we have been wanting to check out this ghost town nearby called scull shoals. not really knowing too much about the place, we didn't know what to expect.
this riverside town was once a town of about 600 people and was washed away in a flood in the the late 1800's. in it's thriving days it was a big textile industry and agriculture community.
what's left is the decaying walls, bridges, and evidence of a place that was once called home.

now that the spring veggies are ready to harvest and the farmers market has started i can't stop eating fresh salads. this weekend i made a big jar of dressing to have on hand.
1 part olive oil, 1 part champagne vinegar, a few cloves of garlic, salt and pepper, and some fresh herbs. stick it in the fridge for a quick spring meal.
our third books are back from the printer...and are sooooo lovely!
the books are simple and are our reflections of our winter in the south. i know we have moved on to spring...and summer. but trust me, they are so beautiful that you can enjoy them all year long.
order the winter books

every season we visit rebecca's ideas shack for a fun day in the country. we bring a car load of inspiring objects, flora, and other seasonal items. yesterday we spent the day arranging flowers, taking photographs and catching up. we always leave inspired... enjoy a few details from our day!
blue valentine the movie good quality
our friend nancy calls them "natures embroidery". they weave their way up our trees, through our windows, along the sides of our homes, and across our ceilings. many of us have a love hate relationship with them. one one hand they knit a lovely fabric of natural beauty and the other hand, well....they take over.
enjoy these photos of southern vines that i have seen throughout the years...
