we had a photoshoot at my house monday, so tuesday there was lots of leftover homemade food. i had made a lemon chess pie that turned out so yummy. i was thinking ' what topping would go with this pie? it really stands alone, but... there was some freshly made "whoop" cream ( when my kids were little, they thought it was called whipped cream because it got "whooped". in the south,"whipped" often comes out" whooped".) in the fridge, no sugar added! So i put a dollop on my slice of pie and headed to the back deck to enjoy it as the sun went down. there was a coolness to the spring evening that intensified the sweet sweet smell of the chinaberry tree blooming near the deck, and the evening birdsong from hundreds of birds filled the air. it was right then that i realized: this cool evening air full of birdsong and fragrant with purple blossoms, this piece of homemade lemon chess pie with whoop cream, no sugar added, this was one of life's best moments, mine to savor. i felt so fortunate to experience it,and am so thankful for these moments of perfection.
( recipe to follow monday)
i worked on an organic CSA farms for a few years. so....whenever i get a chance to visit one, i take it. i love how every farm differs so much and how each one has it's own charm about it.

in the country you often hear of different churches having a 'singing'. they present traveling gospel singers,or just their own choir for an evening of good ol' gospel singing. i loved the sign for this one!
